Ok, I haven't done this in a while but to anyone who is about to read this I add this warning. You are about to encounter some serious ranting and bitching!
Now, I know it's not right of me to use this for such things, it should be about art and stuff, well, bugger that! I am in a bad mood and I need to get it out!
Also, Bec, if you happen to read this, I mean no real offense but you have made me REALLY mad!
Ok, so me and two friends went to the movies to see 3D UP, which was great by the way, anyway, I am the only one of the three of us with a car. Scratch that, I am one of only about 7 girls in a house of 37 who have their license and/or a car. So we are leaving the cinema's and I am backing out the car when I look to them and jokingly say, "I think I just figured out why you guys hang out with me, because I have a license and car, right?" I laughed. It was partly true I guess, having a friend with a car and license had to have its perks when they didn't. I had driven to the shops for them on many occasions, as long as I was up to it and not busy.
So on of my friends, Rietie is her nick name, laughs and goes, "Dah, you only just figured that?" And I had a chuckle and called her 'the pity case', its what we do an inside joke. Then, my other friend in the car looks to me and says, seriously, "Well, it's not like you would take us anywhere unless you want to."
Well I was mad! I had rarely refused a lift for anyone! I once got up at 8am when I had been up till 3am to drive a girl I hardly knew to work because she missed her bus! Does that sound like not driving people?
I dropped a girl off at her boyfriends house TWICE, when I didn't know her name. Does THAT sound like not driving people?
So I looked to her and said, "You never asked!" probably with a tad bit too much attitude, but in my mind I was like, 'the fuck is with this girl? Since when have I been a taxi service?' besides, I am always low on petrol since when I drive its mostly to see my family who live two hours drive away.
So, my 'friend' Bec looks to me and says, "Yes, well, there have been times I have missed out on things because you not driving me!"
Again, she never asked, and how is this my problem? Its called PUBLIC TRANSPORT! Its actually REALLY good up here! Besides, since when have I been in charge of anyones social life and getting them A to B?
"Excuse me, I am NOT your taxi and, again, you never asked!" I added. All the time poor Rietie sat quietly in the back seat listening to mine and Bec's quarrel.
"Yes, well, there have been times I needed to go to the doctors-" Bec began.
"I recall once OFFERING you a lift to the doctors!" I shot back. Again, she hadn't asked. I was just being nice.
"Well, I didn't need it. I got a lift with Jacinta(a lady who takes care of us)" Bec said.
.... Ok, well I still offered, how does her taking a lift from someone else make me the bad guy? There is a lot of money in driving up here, parking costs a lot and petrol too. Even so, all people have to do is ASK. You can ask anyone in the house that! I have helped out heaps of people!
"But there were other times when you DIDN'T offer" She stated.
I'm sorry, but something was wrong with this picture. The only time I ever refused a lift to her was when she wanted me to drive her to Dickson, which was ten minutes walk, and I was doing an assignment AND had just gotten back from driving two hours AND had no petrol! Why am I the bad guy here? So we went on,
"I am no ones taxi, ok? You need to ask to get!" a lot of people in the boarding house know this, "Besides, why don't you get your license!" I added feeling annoyed. This girl is 21, over here you have to only be 17 to get your P plates and be able to drive independently.
"Because, I never had anyone to drive me!" She snapped back. Four years and she couldn't clock up 50 measly hours? Fuck that!
"Driving lessons" that was Rietie this time, she clearly was beginning to think this fight was bullshit too. But I like her, I would never refuse Rietie a lift if she asked, she knew that. Both of them should have.
Then Bec continued on about why she couldn't get the hours and how $60 was too much per lesson for driving. How she couldn't afford it.
Well, I personally don't think I should have to suffer because she won't drive and wouldn't ask!
Why is it my problem? I know I am her friend but all she has to do is ASK!!!
GRRRR! I was shitty the rest of the trip and sucking my teeth to resist telling her to get the fuck out of my car I was so mad. But now, I am just not going to drive her anywhere, I will show her what me not giving her a lift REALLY feels like!
Sorry about that. Needed to get it out
"BUT I offered!" I shot back.
